Chocolate Smoothie Bowl Recipe

I've finally hopped on the smoothie bowl trend! I find it's the perfect lunch, packed full of goodness and it gives me an energy boost just when I need it to get through the day. Something I have definitely been needing with these cold and rainy Spring days we've been having. We've partnered with BarkTHINS® to bring you this delicious recipe that is truly delicious. The smoothie is not overly sweet, but pairs so perfectly with the crunch and sea salt in the almond barkTHINS.


BarkTHINS are thin pieces of Fair Trade dark chocolate combined with real, simple non-GMO ingredients, perfect for snacking. They're Hazel's new favourite treat, that little monkey lives for chocolate, "special treat" she calls it. I'm always looking at ingredients in the snacks I buy when I'm at the grocery store, so I was so happy to see had no artificial ingredients! They are now available in Canada in four delicious flavours (coconut and almond, almond with sea salt, pumpkin seed with sea salt, and pretzel with sea salt).


In a blender, combine:

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • Fill to 1 cup with almond milk on mixer
  • 1 heaping tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp hemp seeds
  • 4 dates
  • 3 frozen strawberries
  • 2 heaping spoonfuls of peanut butter 
  • 8 ice cubes

Blend until smooth, Pour into 2 bowls

Top with almond barkTHINS, toasted coconut, hemp seeds, chia seeds, fresh fruit and granola.
