Raspberry Nettle Iced Tea // Pregnancy Mocktail

I've been drinking this concoction almost daily since I've hit the third trimester with this pregnancy. I made an iced tea using just the raspberry leaf (recipe here) a few years ago, this one adds nettles leaf tea which has lots of benefits in pregnancy as well! Every other night I brew 2 large mason jars with a combination of red raspberry leaf tea and nettles leaf tea. Once they're not scorching hot I stick them in the fridge because I find they're just SO much easier to drink chilled, especially in these Summer months! 

Benefits of Nettle Leaf + Raspberry Leaf Tea

Nettles leaf tea is high in magnesium, calcium and iron! It's not recommended in the first trimester but is safe for 2 and 3 as it's known for it's stimulating effects. It also aids in production of breast milk. It also helps with numerous stomach issues such as IBS, constipation and bloating. Stinging nettle has been found to be great for other ailments too like arthritis and asthma. 

Raspberry Leaf is probably the most well known third trimester preggo tea because of its uterine stimulating qualities. It is also high in magnesium, potassium, b-vitamins and iron and is also great for your skin! We actually use red raspberry leaf tea in our Pink House Raspberry face cream,  it helps with eczema and rosacea. 

For this fancy schmancy mocktail I combine the following:

  • 1.5 cups of brewed iced tea
  • 1/4 cup of pineapple juice or any kind of juice for sweetness.
  • splash of apple cider vinegar (I just love the added little bit of sour! and it's great for your gut)
  • frozen blueberries to keep it chilled without watering it down
  • a splash of sparkling water if you have it on hand. 

There you have it, a simple, healthy and beneficial little mocktail for you mamas!
