San Diego

Lindsay and I had the best, most relaxing time in San Diego last week! We basically just needed to escape this long Vancouver Winter/Spring and feel some SUNSHINE! And did we ever, we both left a little sunkissed and with some sand in our pockets, it was amazing. We asked a few of our friends who had been before, of course, our pals Local Wanderer and our insta friends where we needed to eat, shop, see, and we tried to hit up as many as possible in the few days we were there! We ate some incredible food and found some adorable shops too, and definitely went home with empty pockets, because heyyyy American dollar not working to our advantage! Worth it.

Our flight was suuuuper delayed, we were supposed to arrive in the afternoon, but didn't get there until around 9pm. We went straight to our hotel which was only about 10 minutes from the airport and immediately felt at home. We stayed at The Pearl Hotel the first night, we were so blown away by how cute every little detail was! From the sink in the bathroom, to the old movie they had projected over the pool, it was so cozy with the perfect vintage touches. We sat outside by the pool and ate such a delicious meal paired with cocktails (mocktails for moi!) We woke up and walked a few blocks and grabbed some acai bowls and lattes to go and sat in the sun, it felt sooo good to feel the sun again for the first time in probably 7 months!

We laid by the pool for a bit then walked to Liberty Station. It was about a 30 minute walk from the hotel, we decided to just Uber around this trip instead of renting a car, and I'm so glad we did, if anywhere was close enough, we'd just walk, and I loved seeing all the adorable houses, (so many pink and coral ones!) All the amazing tropical plants and cacti that were growing wild. Liberty Station was really cool, we were drooling over everything at Moniker General store, and had an amazing lunch at the Public Market

Some locals told us about their favourite brunch spot called Little Lion Cafe. It was sooo good, and adorable! A tiny little cafe about a 10-minute walk from this stunning view. We ate eggs benny, drank mimosas, and then walked along the coastline for a good few hours. We walked to Sunset Cliffs, it was so gorgeous, the wildflowers, the rugged coastline and quiet beaches. So dreamy.

We spent a full day in North Park eating and shopping our way through. We adored Pigment  (pictured above). We were in there for hours, and I could have just kept going, so many great little gift ideas and home things. I got Hazel an adorable little dress for her second birthday coming up! We went to Communal Coffee and had the yummiest honey lavender lattes. Found some vintage shops and had the best tacos at Tacos Perla. Honestly, best fish taco I've ever had!

A few other places we love:
Herb + Wood - We missed their breakfast by 10 minutes but they still had a delicious avocado toast with egg, so good. Their whole menu looked amazing!
The Crack Shack - Helloooo fried chicken, plus good vibes, it's a fun place to hang out, family friendly without feeling family friendly.
Cafe Gratitude - Everything we had was incredible, their menu is all plant based, such good food, and a gorgeous interior.
Hunt & Gather - Amazing little vintage store!
