Nanaimo Part 1

I was so excited to jump on my first helijet and head to Nanaimo with some of my best buds! Taylor and Elaine from Local Wanderer set up this trip with Tourism Nanaimo, and our friend Jesse Morrow from San Francisco was able to fly up for the getaway. A while back, Elaine and I did the BC Ale Trail on the Sunshine Coast, and ended up spending one evening in Nanaimo. This trip really opened my eyes to what Nanaimo had to offer, and as silly as I felt, I truly had NO idea Nanaimo Bars originated in Nanaimo, ha!

First stop was straight to a nice afternoon hike up to Mount Benson Waterfall.

We then grabbed some snacks and headed to Sunset Sebastian Beach for a fire. We were lucky to have Tom as our guide and boy scout ;) We roasted up some mallows, talked about love and lost loves, and watched the sun go down. Since Fall has been here, I have missed the beach bonfire's and roasting marshmallows, so this was a lovely treat.

Nanaimo is really really beautiful! We woke up briiiight and early for sunrise, bundled up and walked around Sunrise Neck Point. The autumn colours were just perfect. We had a lovely walk around and sipped on some coffee listening to Frank Ocean's album.

For dinner and drinks we cozied up and wound down from the day at White Sales Brewery. Now this place is so cool. The brewery allows you to bring your own food in, so we grabbed some take out and ordered some flights of beer! This place was super cozy and had lots of board games. With it being such a relaxed atmosphere, it made it super comfortable to spend the evening winding down by the fire.

Thank you so much to Tourism Nanaimo for this lovely trip! Can't wait to visit again. Look out for Part 2 of my Nanaimo trip where we took a ride on sea planes and played with sparklers down by the bay.
