Deliciously Simple Dinner Party

I love the fresh start that comes with a new year. I love reflecting on the year’s accomplishments, hardships, and memories and then looking forward on the year ahead. Setting goals and making plans, big and small. Plans to travel, goals for work, to read more books, put the phone away more often, spend more time pursuing friends. I’m feeling excited for the year ahead and one thing I’ve put on my list is to host more dinner parties. I often have friends I’d love to have over, and start planning a nice meal in my head. It’s easy to get a bit too overwhelmed and just end up going out to a restaurant, or grab take out (which is all too easy living in the city).  There is something so lovely about a nice meal around a table with wine, candles and good company. I’m a big fan of home cooked meals, but I’m not afraid of frozen meals either, especially when they taste just as good, and you can’t taste a difference! We were so excited when we found that Bertolli makes an incredible Italian sausage rigatoni! A meal that takes minutes to prepare, and completely takes the stress off when you’re in a time crunch, or want to have a spontaneous dinner party with old friends.

Ok, so you’re throwing a dinner party, now you want to welcome your last-minute-guests into your home and make the table look nice! Here are a few simple things you can find around your house, or pick up on your way home while grabbing a bottle of vino.

I stopped by whole foods and picked up a bouquet of mixed flowers, some big tropical leaves, and eucalyptus. Grabbed a roll of leftover wrapping paper, and gathered empty milk bottles and candles

Use the wrapping paper as a table runner! This works great because you can be creative with all different patterns, it’s affordable and makes an easy clean up!  It would be fun to dress up the runner with pretty patterns or florals would look amazing as well as any solid colour!

Make a few small flower arrangements by breaking up the mixed bouquet, and adding the eucalyptus. Add lots of candles to the table and scatter the extra eucalyptus leaves around for an added touch - It’s simple, but beautiful. It only took me a few minutes to put the table together but it looks beautiful, and it’s just a little something extra.

Ok this meal is truly delicious. The Bertolli italian sausage rigatoni was the easiest pasta dinner I’ve ever cooked! The stress of trying to time a meal for your guests is gone and you can just enjoy this beautiful authentic, Italian meal. It is easy to dress up the meal as well by adding a simple loaf, some salad and a good bottle of wine. Your guests are sure to be impressed. YAY for easy meals!

So here’s to new year’s resolutions! I know I’m going to be having a lot more spontaneous dinner parties, and Bertolli is sure to be a go-to. Can’t wait to have more meals with friends, connecting over great food and conversation.

This post is brought to you by Bertolli. Don't just eat, Mangia!
