Update // A lil' Easter Reminder

Happy Easter everyone!

It is resurrection Sunday and I'm searching inside myself to find what it truly means to me. What is the greatest thing about believing in God? Why is this day so significant? Why does it affect me now?

A couple years ago I came across a passage in the Bible that I had read many times. For some reason this time, a detail stuck out more bluntly than ever. Let me give you the verse. -

-The Death of Jesus-
50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. 51 And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth shook and the rocks were split. 52 The tombs were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;…

(This is where the little lesson comes in- heads up ya'll)

Now, back in those days, the temple is where the Holy Spirit dwelled. The temple was exquisite, beautifully built with exceptional detail and finest materials- the curtain was made with blue, purple, scarlet yarn and finely twisted linen. The temple was separated into different rooms and the room that the Holy Spirit dwelled in was called the Holy of Holies. (Separated by this giant curtain) The only person who was allowed to enter past this curtain to experience the presence of God was the priest.

SO- After that little back story- You still with me???

As Jesus died, He yielded up His spirit and the veil of the temple was torn. This became SO significant to me because it shows that whatever was blocking men from being "worthy" enough to go past the curtain into his presence was suddenly torn in half. Gone. Torn from top to bottom. Supernaturally.
There was no more need for washing, putting on special garments, preparing yourself to be right and worthy for his presence, no more of that. I can't imagine- the guilt you would have felt if you were not worthy, what an awful heaviness. The good news - He will take you as you are. He sees you as you are, accepts you, loves you, wants you.

We don't need to be at a certain level, we don't need to have our shiz together, we are good enough to come to Him as we are. I sure as hell don't have it together, so, what a beautiful thing.

Everybody wants to be seen. Everybody wants to be known. He sees you, He wants you. You just gotta realize He's there.

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 6:19-20
