A Month of Merriment // Pinecone & Pompom Holiday Garland

We are definitely getting into the Christmas spirit over here... trying so hard not to bust out those decorations tooo early. But I don't think that we will be holding out much longer. We made an easy garland DIY that you can do mostly with materials you probably have around your house.

  • Pinecones (Painted or Natural)
  • Yarn
  • Twine
  • Scissors

Step 1: Start making pompoms by wrapping the yarn around the width of 4 fingers 30 times. Cut the yarn to detach the pompom and tie a 3" piece of yarn around the center of the pompom. Cut the loops and trim any excess yarn. See our detailed tutorial with an Instructional video here.

Step 2: Cut a piece of twine to the desired length of your garland. Start by tying in a pinecone about 6" in from the end.

Step 3: Next create an opening with your fingers in the center of a pompom and slide the rope through the middle. Spacing the Pinecones & pompoms a couple inches apart. Continue until your garland is finished.

Step 4: Hang by the fire with care!
