Coffee Conversations

Something New: For the past month we have had about 15 pairs of shoes scattered around our front door, so this past weekend I decided to build a shoe rack! I have never really built anything before, but I was really excited. My Dad and I went to a "Old and Used" lumber/appliances yard in langley.. its a really cool place- tons of old doors, tubs, sinks, you name it! We picked out some really old thick pine wood and my Dad taught me how to use a hand saw and power drill. It was pretty fun, and now our shoes are so nice and tidy!

Something Inspiring: The Psalm "Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city the watchman waketh but in vain" This Psalm really hit my heart within the past few months. There have been a lot of changes in my life, a lot of growing and moving forward. This verse humbles me and reminds me that unless the Lord is my prime foundation, the builder and the keeper of all I do, the things that I work for (relationships, dreams, goals, plans) will all be in vain. He has plans to prosper you, to give you hope and a future.

Something Disturbing: You guys are going to start to think Im a sicko with all these disturbing things I am exposing you to about myself. So, for the past FULL week I have been deaf in my right ear. I had a shower last thursday, and on my way while walking to work my ear plugged up. It was so difficult to work at my coffee shop with music playing and customers giving their orders. I could barely hear and felt pretty disorientated. I tried a bunch of things - plugging my nose and blowing out my ears - jumping up and down with my head between my knees (definitely did this in private.. ended up feeling incredibly nauseous) - steam - drops of hydrogen peroxide - you name it, I fearfully tried it. But, the story ends in a very simple & mildly disturbing conclusion.. I went to a walk in clinic and the doc said I had a ton of ear wax stuck in there. He basically pressure washed my ear. It was an incredible relief! So, if your ears have been feelin a bit hazy lately and q-tips just aren't doin their job.. head over there my friends, you will be feeling so good.

Something I'm Listening To: I have been listening to a ton of Beach House lately. Beautiful music.

Something New: sunglasses and earrings in our shop! I've been really excited for the new product to go up, I've been wearing my sunglasses and earrings practically everyday. Go check them out at www.shopkalos.com

Something Inspiring: "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The eye is the lamp of the body. So if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light..." Matthew 6:21-22
I love that verse a lot, makes me really evaluate everything I put my time into.

Something Disturbing: I got runners (or for you Americans, tennis shoes) all my life I hated runners. And over night they are my favourite thing, I asked for them as my birthday present haha, and boy do they make my bod feel great.

Something I'm Listening To: Rubik, I saw these guys in Portland almost two years ago and they are just awesome and super talented. My husband and I turn them on if we're in the mood to daaanncccee.

Something New: I mentioned in yesterdays homemade about using lime for deodarant! I had a bunch of people ask me to explain, it's simple, one lime will last me about 8 days so I just cut off a slice and squeeze it to get the juices out and rub it under my arms! It amazes me how well this works, I have tried lots of the natural deodarants and none have really worked for me, but this has been just great!

Something Inspiring: I'm going to follow these two ladies and share a verse that has been inspiring to me as well, Psalm 61-63 are very hi-lited in my Bible and this week 63 v 3 inspired me..." because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you!"

Something Disturbing: My car is full of mould. It's so gross. Both Dan's car, and mine got pretty gross while we were in Australia for a year, we got Dan's professionally cleaned right away, but mine has been sitting on his sister's farm for the past few months and gotten worse...and today I get to spend the whole day cleaning it! Yayyyyyy

Something I'm Listening To: Jai Paul. Dan has been blasting his leaked album all week, apparently his laptop got stolen and some new stuff got out, it's grooooovy.
