Coffee Conversations

Something New // Being in Canada! This is the longest I've been in the states for (5 weeks) and I love it there, but it really made me miss Canada, the food, the currency, it just feels good to be home.

Something Inspiring // I'm really having a hard time trying to think of something inspiring, honestly thinking of my kitchen, my own bed, apartment, family, Vancouver, is making me feel very happy and excited at the moment, 1 more sleep in a hotel and then I'm home and I am so excited! These 5 weeks have been a big fun adventure but I'm so ready for home, my family and Kalos days again!

Something Disturbing // Well, this is kind of hilarious now... a few nights ago in Minneapolis, I gave myself a nice cut on my head. It was the very last song of Hey Ocean's set, Bethy was dancing, I decided to sneak up behind her and was standing on a platform, put my hands on her shoulders, sprung off, nailed my head on a metal corner in the ceiling, crap. It didn't even hurt thaaaat bad, I was just embarassed, and David was like " Tegan, your head!" I then noticed blood dripping down my cheek, ran to the bathroom to find a nice gash right where my hair starts about an inch long. Yowza, there was a lot of blood. Thankfully our friends dad who is a doctor, said I wouldn't need stitches, (especially being in the states, we didn't wanna deal with that!) It's a nice scab now (hence the braid across head) and I can't wait til I can wash my hair again,

Something I'm Listening To // If you haven't heard Aidan Knight's newest album, it's amazing. It's been great driving music in my headphones the last few days while driving through the vast nothingness in between Montana and Calgary!

Something New // Tour is done, and David and I are now having a little vacation time in Arizona with my family. Tour was lots of fun! Saw so many awesome places and had lots of funny experiences with some of our best friends. Being in Arizona now is sooooo nice, so warm, so relaxed, we've been looking forward to this for a long time and we're taking it alllll in!

Something Inspiring // On our last night on tour we were in Montana and after Davids band finished playing he was just standing around chatting and got into a conversation with a man, they talked for a few minutes and then about 10 minutes later the man came back to David slid a $100 bill into his hand and said "Buy your wife something nice." What an awesome thing to do!! I thought David was joking when he told me... It's so great to be able to bless strangers in little ways. It was really inspiring and encouraging to bless others in anyway we're able.

Something Disturbing // Seeing Tegan drenched in blood :( Read her story above ^

Something I'm Listening To // Manchester Orchestra. They are one of my favourite bands that David and I listened to a lot while we were engaged, so whenever I put their albums on it brings back so many memories!

Something New// My band Behind Sapphire did a sunny vancouver video shoot recently for our rubber boots band merch! Watch the video here, and also look out for a special giveaway here on our blog tomorrow!

Something Inspiring// I was greatly inspired by this verse my friend wrote out in a letter recently...
"Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me," even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."  - Psalm 139: 7-14

Something Disturbing// I talked about how I was inspired to learn how to skateboard... The other day I gave it a go- After staring at it for 5 minutes as if it were challenging me, I got really nervous for some reason. I finally took it outside and jumped on it (over confidently) and it flung from under me into the alleyway. I almost fell twice and gave a lady in her car a good laugh. The idea of riding my razor scooter (that I got in seventh grade) to and from work is becoming more and more appealing. Yikes.

Something I'm Listening to // Bear Mountain. Found them while randomly searching on bandcamp.. A few weeks later my buddy suggested their friends band, it happened to be Bear Mountain! Small world.
