Homemade is a new thursday series we've added where we share something that can be homemade that we would typically buy at the store! enjoy!
This recipe is super easy! I (Lindsay) make it at the cafe I work at and customers love coming in just for this vanilla syrup.
Ingredients // (1:1:1 ratio)
Brown sugar (or Raw sugar)
The ratio is one cup water, one cup sugar to one vanilla bean. You can make the recipe as big as you'd like!
I used 2:2:2 ratio
Step one Slice open vanilla beans down the center from the top to the bottom with a small sharp knife. Open them up and scrape out the small black seeds with a knife. Place them all into a pot including the bean itself.
Step two Measure water and sugar into pot, stir and place onto stove
Step three Bring to a boil stirring occasionally. Once the syrup has been brought to a boil, let it sit on low for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Step four Once the 15 minutes are up, take it off the burner, put a lid on the pot and let it sit over night!
//Your Vanilla syrup will be ready in the morning for your coffee, oatmeal, or substitute it for your artificial vanilla baking ingredient! Pour it into a jar and place the Vanilla beans inside the syrup as well.
