This pie is a classic "Sjoberg" Homemade pie. Super simple, super easy, and DELICIOUS. By far my favourite pie. Everytime I have it, it reminds me of my childhood. Theres something so special about picking blackberries!
My Mom and I went out and picked the blackberries from behind our house, and my brother made the pie!
To make the pie crust, my family loves the recipe off of the back of the "Tenderflake" Box. My grandma used it for every pie!
Mix 5 1/2 cups of flour, and 2 tsp salt in a bowl.
Cut in *Tenderflake lard with two knives until mixture resembles coarse oatmeal.
In a 1 cup measure, put 1 egg, 1 tbs vinegar, and add water to fill cup.
Gather dough into a ball and divide in two. (One will be used for the bottom of the pie, one for the top)
Roll out base portion on lightly floured surface, then transfer dough to pie plate.
For Filling: In a bowl, add 6 cups of rinsed blackberries, 1/2cup of flour, 1/2cup of sugar, and a couple teaspoons of cinnamon and nutmeg (however much YOU like!) Stir, and pour ontop of pie crust!
Roll out the second portion of dough and cut it into thin strips, criss-cross the strips ontop of the filling.
Bake at 425degrees, for approx 50minutes! ENJOY!
